This class is all about you. "Rapid intervention" is a great concept, but we also need to
be able to look out for ourselves. This course addresses actions the firefighter can take
before, during, and after the MAYDAY to get themselves out of a bad situation - or
ideally, to prevent themselves from getting into one. Some of the things we'll cover
include:
Recognizing the warning signs of various situations and associated preventative
measures.
Utilize features of your SCBA and additional air-management techniques in an
"out of air" emergency.
Evacuate untenable conditions using various techniques.
Take emergency shelter measures.
Transmit a MAYDAY and recognize when to call one.
Function as a team member in difficult situations.
We'll share tips and lessons learned from experienced instructors and challenge your
ability to "get out alive". Practice your skills and gain confidence in your ability to
survive....
