This class occurred on March 10 and 11, 2007 at the Lancaster County Public Safety Training
Center in Pennsylvania and was hosted by the Lititz Fire Company. This was an introductory
level class designed to familiarize the students with modern concepts and theories on RIT as
well as give the students hands-on training in various methods of firefighter rescue and self-
survival. The course concluded with several practical scenarios where the students put their
new knowledge and skills to work during several mock incidents. Of the 16-hours spent in
class, 12-hours was entirely hands-on, practical training.
Instructors this weekend were Dave Brooks (Captain, Fairfax County F/R), Nick Martin
(Firefighter, DCFD), and Doug Mitchell (Firefighter, FDNY).
The members of Lititz performed magnificently and successfully overcame the many
challenges the instructors put in front of them. Thanks to all the students for their positive
attitudes and desire to excel.
